About Laptops for Less

Laptops for Less is one of the student services run by UNSA, the University of Newcastle Students' Association. We started it because a reliable laptop is essential for study, and new laptops cost more than many students can afford.

What we do

We source quality laptops from brands like Dell, Lenovo, HP, Apple, Acer and Microsoft, have them professionally refurbished and tested, and sell them for well below the price of new. Every laptop comes with a 12-month warranty on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law. We can also special order other laptops and tablet-style devices, like a Microsoft Surface Pro or similar.

Who it's for

University of Newcastle students, primary and high school students who need a laptop for school (from Year 5 to Year 12 and the HSC), parents, staff and the wider community. Anyone can buy.

Why it matters

  • Students save hundreds of dollars on a reliable laptop.
  • Good laptops are kept out of landfill.
  • Money from laptop sales goes back into UNSA, a not-for-profit, to support students.

How it works

  1. Choose a laptop from our refurbished laptops, or book a free consultation for a recommendation.
  2. Pay online.
  3. Pick up free from UNSA HQ, Shortland Building, Callaghan campus (book a pickup time after you order), or get it posted Australia-wide.
  4. Register your warranty, and report a fault if you need help.
